Thankful for Thanksgiving and… a Tree Trimming Party!
Thanksgiving greetings to all!
This Dojo has had many things to be thankful for in 2017. To our students, parents and especially our black belt instructors who give so generously to the success of our club, we are truly blessed. We are also thankful for the facility we use, the Midwest Tenrikyo Church and to its ministers, Rev’s Kunihito and Michiko Fumioka.
We could not have done it without the cooperation of everyone! On a chilly Saturday in November, members of Chicago Tenri Judo Dojo pitched in to help the church cut down 26 trees – wow! These trees were at the end of their useful life AND were a danger to property and neighbors so in an effort to maintain all planting and landscaping in a neat, clean, and healthful condition, we tackled the task!
We were so grateful to the following who worked hard that day:
- Dave Moeller Instructor
- Amy Chan Parent
- Elizabeth Weiss Student
- Bruce Piazza Instructor
- Leo Beltran Student
- Rev Kunihito Fumioka Head Minister
- Danilo Janjic Student
- Kei Narimatsu Instructor
- Nathan Tutt Student
- Henry Liu Instructor
- Ralph Engler Parent
We would also like to acknowledge the generosity of Absolute Tree Solutions who cut down the trees efficiently, professionally, and removed all the debris. Lastly thank you to Dave Moeller who helped us obtain this service.
It warms my heart to think of all of those who make Chicago Tenri Judo Dojo what it is and as we gather around the feast this Thanksgiving, know that I am grateful.
